Several days ago Kathy Beck found a single Mississippi Kite (MIKI) at Paton’s Center for Squirrels, Mosquitos, and Chiggers in Patagonia. Others also found MIKI over the next several days, including several reports of three birds! I found the three birds at Patagonia Park within about five minutes this morning. The feeders at Paton’s have been taken down every evening because of hungry bears. By the time I left Patagonia Park the volunteer staff had just begun to put out feeders. Santa Rita Lodge and Madera Kubo similarly have been raided by bears and have removed feeders after dark.

The Five-stripe Sparrow and Lucifer Hummingbird both continue at Box Canyon. The Lucifer visits a blooming agave which is at almost exactly the same spot as the Five-stripe Sparrow.
