A trio of Roseate Spoonbills and a billion mosquitos showed up at Aguirre Lake at the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. This spot is about 10 miles north of the Mexican border west of Nogales.
Everywhere one travels in SEAZ this fall the scenery is green. There is so much habitat that many birds, buntings especially, will be missed. The grasses seen in the photograph above go on for at least a mile. Just two months ago the vistas were gray and brown desiccated weeds. Who knows what the above scene holds. Mosquitos, for sure, billions. Chiggers too.
Besides the spoonbills were clouds of Cliff and Northern Rough-winged Swallows, many Least Peeps, both Yellow-legs, A Solitary Peep and numerous Spotted Peeps. Did I mention that there were lots of mosquitos?
