End of the World Birding – Tufted Flycatcher

Tufted Flycatcher Rucker Canyon 4-15-2022

A pair of Tufted Flycatchers have set up a nest in Rucker Canyon on the west side of the Chiricahuas (near the Eared Quetzel spot). Likely one of very few – if any- breeding records for this species north of the border. They were reported several days ago. Gary Witt posted a report on April 11, and since then there have been many observers/photos. The nest was apparently found later. It was reported on Ebird – the nest probably should have not have been included in the report as the nest is easily accessible from the road.

  1. Hi ho! Great photos and great birds! Hope the nest will not be disturbed by masses of people visiting and getting more photos. Agree about nest site not being posted. If it abandons this nest, hope it rebuilds another somewhere else.
