End of the World Birding – Tucson Metro

September 28, 2020

A Buff-breasted Flycatcher was found by Scott Olmstead at Evergreen Cemetery on September 27, 2020. No telling how longs its been at the cemetery. It was probably forced down from Mount Lemon, where they are usually seen, by this summer’s big fire. It is at an unusually low elevation. Usually these guys are seen up above 5000 feet, whereas Tucson is at about 2500′.

Another odd bird in Tucson its the second recent Northern Jacana. This one an adult found at the Ina Road Bridge over the Santa Cruz. It was initially posted as a Purple Gallinule.
