End of The World Birding – Reid Park

February 22, 2021

Reid Park, in central Tucson, is an excellent birding park. It’s not heavily used on weekdays, but on weekends and holidays it’s popular. There are currently several good wintering birds that are often seen; White-Throated Sparrow, Summer Tanager, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Greater Pewee, and a new addition, two or perhaps three Red Crossbills. Interesting resident birds include Cedar Waxwings and Western Bluebirds. The water features attract lots of common lazy ducks and geese, Neotropic Cormorants, Green Herons and Black-crowned Night-herons. Birding seems best in the west-center portion near the open-air theatre, rose garden, and north of the water features (unless you want to see ducks).
