Santa Rita Lodge, Madera Canmyon
September 18, 2020
This morning , 9-18-2020, I started at Santa Rita Lodge in Madera Canyon. It was reasonably birdy. I saw Green-tailed Towhee, Mac’s Warbler, Red-naped Sap, and a few other minor rarities. An oriole appeared and I took a few photos, not thinking much of it, as it looked to be a Bullock’s Oriole. A bit later word came in that a Red-eyed Vireo was at Lakeside park, 35 miles away in Tucson. So I got on my horse and arrived in time to see and photograph that bird. See my previous post. Later in the afternoon I got around to processing my photos from the morning. Half way through my photos I was stunned, mortified, amazed, to see that my common Bullock’s had transmogrified itself into a Baltimore Oriole. Amazing.
