This is the second red-headed woodpecker that’s shown up in SEAZ. The first was in Phoenix. It hung around for a few days in a park before being run off by Starlings. This bird was found in a pecan grove just south of San Simon in Cochise County.

Beautiful photos Eric. We miss you in San Diego. I did not get out to AZ this year and during the pandemic, but maybe next year. Please send me your smug mug link and I will put on my toolbar or make a desktop icon.
I am doing fine, but cut down a little on birding this past year. But the Wood Thrush, Wedge-tailed Shearwater, and Yellow-billed Loon were among my new County birds. Year 2023 I once again swear to downsize and declutter and would like to be more mobile. Send me you contact info again in case I get out your way. Am not sure my info is the latest. Happy New Year (I’d be glad for just a so-so New Year!), you old birding buddy, Sue
